Mobile World Congress is one of our industry's most extraordinary events - the type that takes as long to digest as it takes to attend. This year it attracted thought leaders from top mobile companies including AppFlood and almost 100,000 atendees.
Among hundreds of exhibitors, there were some noticeable absentees. Like always Apple didn’t exhibit, leaving the handset section of the show to appear more like Android World Congress rather than the all-inclusive show it purports to be.
Nevertheless there were plenty of interesting things to be seen. The new launch of Galaxy Edge and a lot of devices known as the “Internet of things”. IOT are usually proposing a development of the internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data like the new Huawei watch. With recent developments including IKEA’s wireless mobile charging furniture, IOT will be a very interesting area to follow.
When it comes to mobile advertising, in what we have a particular interest, re-targeting and LTV seemed to have been the buzzwords of the show. However, most of the re-targeting offers appeared to be data driven and similar to the ones offered by web specialists, rather than actually app based re-engagement re-targeting. We are also the ones moving forward with the technology so you can wait some product update soon, stay tuned!
The MWC brand is now expanding to Asia and there will be a MWC show in China in July. That represents a general thought that the most of the innovation in handsets is now coming from that region. It will be for sure an interesting show and a great opportunity to meet again!
